ApexTuner
Official support

Device care, without the guesswork.

Support for ApexTuner on iPhone, iPad and Android. The two versions share the same safety-first philosophy, but they intentionally use different capabilities because iOS/iPadOS and Android expose different system APIs.

How ApexTuner is designed

ApexTuner is a capability-aware device-care utility. It reports only signals the operating system makes available and keeps destructive actions review-first.

iPhone & iPad Public Apple APIs, local photo/file/Contacts review, bounded local-network diagnostics, optional Cloudflare speed test, battery/care and Quick Cleaner widgets, iOS 18+ Open Cleaner control and one-time StoreKit 2 Premium Lifetime.
Android Local diagnostics, MediaStore/SAF cleaner, complete App Manager inventory with APK export, Contacts, optional Usage/Notification Access, Cloudflare throughput sample, local VPN firewall, advanced explicit access tools and one-time Google Play Premium Lifetime.

Frequently asked questions

Does ApexTuner actually “clean” or speed up the entire device?

No. ApexTuner avoids claims the operating system does not permit it to fulfill. It provides diagnostics, review-oriented cleanup, settings guidance and capability-aware tools.

On iOS/iPadOS, Safe Clean removes only ApexTuner's own cache and temporary files; it cannot clear Safari, other apps' caches, system RAM, hidden iOS data or protected app storage. On Android, cleanup works only with media/files Android legitimately exposes through MediaStore, SAF, Photo Picker and related user grants; ApexTuner does not request unrestricted all-files access.

Why are some features different on iOS and Android?

Apple and Google expose different APIs and permission models. ApexTuner follows those boundaries rather than pretending unavailable privileges exist.

For example, iOS does not expose installed-app enumeration or battery maximum-capacity/cycle-count data to ordinary App Store apps, while Android exposes broader device/app/Usage Access signals. Both current builds now contain user-started Cloudflare throughput testing, but the transfer budgets and surrounding platform controls differ.

Why does ApexTuner say a permission or capability is unavailable?

ApexTuner cannot force iOS/iPadOS or Android to grant protected permissions or override restrictions imposed by the operating system, device management, parental controls, work profiles, OEM software or a document provider.

When the platform allows recovery, ApexTuner uses the normal permission request or provides the relevant Settings route after a denial/revocation. iOS/iPadOS also distinguishes denied, limited and system-restricted access where Apple exposes those states. Android uses the platform-appropriate runtime permission, system consent flow or special-access Settings screen depending on the capability—for example Contacts/media access, Usage Access, Notification Access, VPN consent, overlay, DND policy or Modify System Settings.

Some Android SAF/document providers expose selected files or folders as read-only. In that case ApexTuner keeps safe read operations available where possible, while write-dependent actions such as rename or move remain unavailable until the provider grants the required capability.

How does Photo & Video cleanup work on iPhone and iPad?

Photos permission is requested for the feature. ApexTuner performs local review for exact duplicates, similar photos, screenshots, blur/low-light candidates, bursts, screen recordings and large videos. Nothing is deleted automatically.

The free tier scans the newest 250 accessible assets; iOS Premium removes ApexTuner's app-imposed scan limit. Premium can create a separate 720p video copy without changing the original. If you enable iCloud-only media, Apple Photos may download offloaded media before local analysis.

How does the Files Cleaner work on iPhone and iPad?

ApexTuner can inspect only a folder you explicitly choose in Apple's document picker. A cloud file provider may materialize/download selected content locally so ApexTuner can read it.

Deletion is review-first. Before deleting an original, ApexTuner stages a private recovery copy and refuses unsafe deletion when the file changed after review or safe staging cannot complete. Compression creates a separate output.

How does Duplicate Contacts work?

On both platforms, ApexTuner requests Contacts access only for this tool and compares names, phone numbers and email addresses locally. It does not upload Contacts and never auto-merges them.

iOS/iPadOS: after explicit review/confirmation, ApexTuner consolidates supported fields into the selected primary contact and deletes duplicate contact records through Apple's Contacts framework; a session-scoped undo snapshot is kept. The reviewed build does not request or merge Contact Notes. Android: after confirmation, ApexTuner links selected raw contacts using Android Contacts aggregation rules rather than deleting/recreating them. Changes may sync through the Contacts account/provider you use.

How does Android storage cleanup work?

The Android cleaner uses MediaStore, explicitly selected SAF folders/documents, Photo Picker selections and optional cache insight when you grant Usage Access. Broad media permissions are requested incrementally only for the relevant scan. SAF/document providers may expose selected content as read-only; ApexTuner preserves supported read operations and disables write-dependent actions when the provider does not advertise the required capability.

Android-owned confirmation/trash flows are used where applicable. Photo Picker items are read-only. ApexTuner does not declare MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE. It does declare QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES for the core App Manager's complete installed-app inventory and APK-export functions; that permission does not grant unrestricted file access or access to app-private data.

Does ApexTuner include a RAM booster or kill background apps?

No fake RAM booster is used. Android can report memory pressure and legitimate process/device signals, but routine background-process killing is not presented as an optimization. iOS third-party apps cannot clear system RAM or force-manage other apps.

What battery information can ApexTuner read?

iOS/iPadOS: current battery level/state, Low Power Mode, brightness and thermal state, plus ApexTuner's own locally sampled battery-level trend history. Apple does not expose ordinary App Store apps to battery maximum capacity or cycle count, so ApexTuner does not fabricate them.

Android: where the device/OEM exposes them, ApexTuner can show battery level, Android health status, temperature, voltage, current/energy counters, charging source, technology, thermal state, Battery Saver, discharge prediction and API-34+ cycle count. Availability varies by device.

What happens in the Network feature?

iOS/iPadOS: user-entered DNS/reachability/TCP-port checks contact the resolver/host you choose; bounded Bonjour discovery runs for 5 seconds after Local Network permission. The optional Cloudflare speed test requires a separate confirmation and transfers about 5 MB down + 2 MB up of synthetic data. Low Data Mode disables it. Redacted aggregate speed-test history excludes IP addresses, diagnostic hosts and Bonjour results.

Android: Network Diagnostics includes user-started ping/reachability, DNS, TCP-port, quality and bounded local-subnet tests. Quality history is kept locally for at most 90 days/200 rows and includes the tested host/port. Android also has an optional Cloudflare throughput sample of at most 4 MiB down + 1 MiB up. No personal file/browsing payload is uploaded.

On both platforms, network tests necessarily reveal ordinary connection information such as your public/source IP to the external resolver/destination involved. Cloudflare receives the public IP for its throughput service under Cloudflare's privacy practices.

What is Android Notification History?

It is a Premium, disabled-by-default feature. New collection requires ApexTuner's own opt-in, Android Notification Access, a valid Premium entitlement and a supported profile/device.

While active, ApexTuner stores only source app package, title, text and timestamp in its private local Room database. Default retention is 7 days; choices are 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, with a hard 25,000-row cap. Content is not included in ApexTuner backups or uploaded. Android may redact sensitive notifications.

What are Shizuku/root and advanced tools on Android?

They are optional and never silently assumed. Shizuku/root authorization occurs only after explicit user action. ApexTuner exposes typed, allow-listed privileged actions rather than an arbitrary terminal.

Supported reversible settings save verified prior values so they can be restored. The installed-app inventory comes from the normal Android package manager under ApexTuner's declared QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES core-use permission; Shizuku/root is not used to obtain that inventory or silently acquire unrelated private data.

Does Android screen recording capture my microphone?

No. The reviewed screen recorder requires Android MediaProjection consent each time, records video only, does not request microphone audio, and saves an H.264 MP4 locally to Movies/ApexTuner.

What are the Premium purchase options?

Both current builds use only a one-time Premium Lifetime unlock. iOS/iPadOS uses one non-consumable StoreKit 2 product; Android uses one Google Play one-time in-app product. Neither reviewed build contains an ApexTuner auto-renewable subscription.

The production price/currency is supplied by the user's App Store or Google Play storefront at runtime. A pending Android purchase does not unlock Premium until Google Play reports it purchased.

How do I restore purchases?

iOS/iPadOS: open ApexTuner Premium and use Restore Purchases; StoreKit re-evaluates App Store-signed current entitlements. Android: use Restore purchase; ApexTuner re-queries the one-time Google Play Premium Lifetime purchase.

If a purchase remains missing, confirm you are signed into the store account that originally bought it before buying again. Apple and Google entitlements are separate and do not transfer cross-platform through an ApexTuner account because no such account/backend exists in these builds.

What does Backup & Restore contain?

iOS/iPadOS: the v2 JSON backup can contain appearance, haptics, reminder frequency/adaptive-reminder preference, maintenance history, sampled battery history, aggregate storage history, redacted network history, Care Advisor action history and photo-review preferences. It does not contain Photos/Files/Contacts content, recovery payloads, IP addresses, diagnostic hosts or Premium entitlement data. Scheduled backup is best-effort, writes the same bounded format to the folder you choose, and can prune older ApexTuner-managed scheduled backups according to your configured retention count.

Android: the JSON backup contains safe ApexTuner preferences and an informational list of apps Android currently exposes (package name/label). It excludes purchases, Keystore secrets, file history, notification history, firewall state/payload, SAF folder grants, root/Shizuku authorization and active privileged/system-profile ownership. Premium scheduled backup writes that same bounded JSON format to the SAF folder you choose and prunes older ApexTuner-managed scheduled backups according to your configured retention count. APK export is separate: a single-APK app can be saved as one .apk, while split-installed apps export the complete base/split set as separate .apk files to the folder you choose; app-private data is never included.

If you choose iCloud Drive, Google Drive or another cloud-backed destination, that provider may sync the exported file under its own settings and privacy terms.

How do I delete ApexTuner data?

iOS/iPadOS: Privacy & Security provides separate controls for cache, maintenance history, battery history, care/network/storage intelligence, Recovery Bin and scheduled-backup configuration; Network history also has its own clear action. Uninstalling removes private app-container data. Already exported files, Photos Recently Deleted items and synced Contacts changes remain controlled by their destination/provider.

Android: Notification History can be cleared in-app. Android Settings → Apps → ApexTuner → Storage → Clear storage removes private local app data; uninstalling does the same. Recordings, manual exports/backups and exported APK/base-split APK files in shared/user-selected storage remain separate and must be deleted there if no longer wanted; scheduled backups can also be pruned automatically according to their configured retention count. The one-time Google Play purchase remains in store history and can be restored.
